Network News: The Collision Code
A trusted network is something no entrepreneur should be without
Creating, Colliding, Connecting
James Eder has been colliding with good people for quite some time, and we’ve seen this in action dozens, if not hundreds, of times through 9others since we first met him back in 2011.
From Beans to saying ‘hello’ on the Tube
Fresh out of university James co-founded Student Beans at the age of 22 and made it into an essential part of student university life. That would have been powerful enough but alongside Student Beans he became an Ambassador for One Young World, set up the ‘Kentish Cluster’ to support tech and creative businesses in Kentish Town and started ‘Friendly Friday’ to get more people to just say ‘hello’ and get talking (particularly on, dare we say, the sometimes unfriendly London Underground1).
All that along with several advisor & board roles and coaching entrepreneurs & senior leaders to help them through the challenges and opportunities they’re facing.
But there’s more…
And now…
…James has written a terrific new book.
The Collision Code is a guide to making life better through the power of real human connection. Inspired by a journey to break down the barriers that isolate us, James shares timeless lessons, personal stories and practical tools to help you connect more deeply, feel more fulfilled and unlock new opportunities.
As you’ll read in the book, James is driven by a lifelong fascination with human connection, has set up businesses devoted to sparking real-life connections and is on a mission to dismantle the invisible barriers that isolate us.
The Collision Code explores the profound impact of genuine human relationships on personal and professional success. In a world where digital interaction often leaves us feeling more isolated than connected, this book delves into the irony of modern loneliness and offers practical insights on how to build meaningful connections (you’re preaching to the converted here James!).
Ultimately, this book empowers you to forge connections, embrace your own potential and create a ripple effect of positive change in the world around you.
“You can't control luck. What you can control is your odds of getting lucky. With practical wisdom and relatable stories, The Collision Code is an essential read for anyone looking to unlock the potential of everyday moments & manufacture serendipity”
Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman Ogilvy, Author of Alchemy.

Upcoming Summer Party with (many more than) 9others
Thursday 10th July — London — details and signup here.
Dinners will return after the summer — keep an eye out in the 9others Substack newsletter, here, and on the 9others Ticket Tailor page here.
There are two terrific saying-hello-on-the-Tube stories in the book — one when James asked where a man in black-tie was going to and another when James said hello to a nervous looking man clutching his CV — you’ll have to buy the book to find out where those stories took the people involved…
